Bharat Ratnam Mega CFC Secures FTWZ Broad-Banding Approval, Expands Scope for Gems & Jewellery Activities

Bharat Ratnam Mega CFC, an initiative of GJEPC, has been granted broad-banding approval under the Free Trade Warehousing Zone (FTWZ) framework, enabling a wider range of gems and jewellery products to be warehoused, displayed and viewed at its facility in SEEPZ, Mumbai.

With the approval from SEEPZ authorities, the Mega CFC’s fifth-floor premises can now accommodate activities across the entire gems and jewellery value chain. International participants will be able to import an extensive range of products for exhibitions, viewing programmes and pre-auction inspections. Approved categories include rough diamonds, cut and polished diamonds, lab-grown diamonds, plain and studded jewellery in gold, platinum and silver, combination jewellery, as well as imitation jewellery.

Speaking on the development, Kirit Bhansali, Chairman, GJEPC, said, “Robust infrastructure plays a vital role in positioning India as a leading global hub for the gems and jewellery industry. The expanded FTWZ framework at Bharat Ratnam Mega CFC opens new avenues for international companies to showcase products, conduct viewings and engage in auction-related activities from India, further enhancing global participation and competitiveness.”

Ravi Menon, CEO, Bharat Ratnam Mega CFC, noted that the broad-banding approval extends beyond exhibition-related functions under the FTWZ framework. However, the facility is currently authorised only for warehousing, exhibitions, product viewings and pre-auction inspections, while trading activities remain subject to separate regulatory approvals.

Menon further clarified that although FTWZ regulations permit trading among the approved activities, Mega CFC has yet to obtain the necessary permissions to undertake such operations. Trading services will be introduced only after the required approvals are secured.

The expanded approval is expected to reinforce Bharat Ratnam Mega CFC’s role as a premier destination for international gems and jewellery exhibitions, product showcases and auction-related activities, offering overseas participants access to a broader spectrum of product categories within a secure FTWZ ecosystem.
