The centrepiece of the most recent jewellery auction at Christie’s in New York was the 126.76 carat Light of Peace Diamond, which brought in $13.6 million.
The pear-shaped, D-color, type IIa stone, which was formerly owned by the Zale family, was put up for sale on June 7 at Magnificent Jewels with no reserve. The diamond got a presale estimate from Christie’s of up to $15 million.
