ICA | GemLab India Opens New Gemological Laboratory in Surat
ICA | GemLab India has inaugurated a new gemological laboratory in Surat, expanding its presence into the Indian subcontinent and bringing specialised gemstone testing services closer to one of the world’s leading diamond processing and jewellery trading centres.
The organisation, internationally recognised for its expertise in diamonds, coloured gemstones and jewellery, views the new facility as an important milestone in its global expansion strategy.
The Surat laboratory will offer testing and reporting services for diamonds, coloured gemstones and jewellery. A key service will be determining whether diamonds are natural or synthetic. The facility will operate in accordance with the testing protocols, reporting standards and professional practices followed across the ICA | GemLab network.
Milan Shah, Co-founder of Kalamandir Jewellers, attended the inauguration as chief guest. Amira Hatta, Managing Director of ICA | GemLab Global, and Dr. Dietmar Schwarz, Chief Research Scientist at ICA | GemLab Global, were present as guests of honour.
Speaking at the inauguration, Amira Hatta highlighted India’s importance in the global gems and jewellery sector, noting that the establishment of the Surat laboratory would enable the organisation to serve the Indian market directly and bring its analytical expertise closer to businesses throughout the jewellery supply chain.
ICA | GemLab India also emphasised Surat’s strategic significance as a major global diamond processing hub. The laboratory aims to provide manufacturers, retailers, jewellery brands, designers and consumers with dependable gemological information through established testing procedures and consistent reporting standards, supporting informed business and purchasing decisions.
