GJEPC Welcomes U.S. Legislative Delegation for Industry Interaction in Mumbai

Amid strengthening India–U.S. economic relations, the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) hosted a delegation of U.S. senators, state legislators, and representatives from the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) at its Mumbai headquarters on 22 June. The visit aimed to provide insights into India’s gem and jewellery sector and facilitate discussions on emerging industry developments.

The delegation included Wayne Harper, President Emeritus and President Pro Tempore of NCSL; Dan Saddler, Member of the Alaska House of Representatives; Chase Blasi, Member of the Kansas Senate; Chris Lee, Member of the Hawaii Senate; Kirstin Kahaloa, Member of the Hawaii House of Representatives; Ron Winterton, Member of the Utah Senate representing Daggett, Duchesne, Summit, Uintah and Wasatch counties; and Bryan Thomas, Chief Communications Officer at NCSL.

The visiting officials were received by Kirit Bhansali, Chairman, GJEPC; Shaunak Parikh, Vice Chairman, GJEPC; Mehul Shah, Vice President, Bharat Diamond Bourse; Ashish Borda, Convenor – PMBD, GJEPC; Mital Doshi, Convenor – Banking, Insurance & Taxation Committee (BITC), GJEPC; Bharat Ghori, Member – Diamond Panel, GJEPC; and Sabyasachi Ray, Executive Director, GJEPC.

The interaction covered a wide range of topics, including India–U.S. trade engagement, the global diamond and jewellery value chain, employment opportunities, regulatory compliance, the Kimberley Process, natural and lab-grown diamonds, skill enhancement initiatives, and welfare programmes for the industry.
