CaratLane, a Tata Group company and one of India’s leading omnichannel fine jewellery brands, has announced the inauguration of its advanced new manufacturing facility in Chennai, marking a major step in the brand’s expansion and operational growth strategy. Situated in the SIDCO industrial area at Irandankattalai, Thirumudivakkam, the sprawling 32,000 sq. ft. unit spans four dedicated floors and is built to substantially strengthen CaratLane’s manufacturing operations.
The newly launched facility is set to double the company’s production capacity, enabling the brand to cater to rising customer demand across India while continuing to uphold its focus on quality, innovation, and fine craftsmanship. The expansion is also expected to create nearly 100 specialised employment opportunities, supporting local economic growth.
Commenting on the development, Saumen Bhaumik, Managing Director of CaratLane, stated that the new facility reflects the company’s strategic investment towards strengthening its supply chain and scaling operations in line with evolving consumer expectations. He added that by combining advanced technology with expert craftsmanship, CaratLane aims to deliver premium-quality jewellery with enhanced efficiency and faster turnaround times, while also promoting sustainable manufacturing and local employment.
The facility is equipped to manufacture a diverse range of jewellery — from everyday wear pieces to high-value solitaire creations — and incorporates several cutting-edge technologies, including high-precision 3D printers for detailed prototyping, advanced faceting machines for superior brilliance, high-capacity laser cutting systems for improved productivity, and specialised equipment for creating lightweight yet durable castings.
The integration of these advanced technologies is expected to significantly streamline production timelines, enabling quicker movement from design conceptualisation to final customer delivery.
Aligned with the brand’s sustainability initiatives, the facility also incorporates environmentally responsible practices such as solar panels capable of generating 40 kW of clean energy and an advanced water recycling system aimed at reducing environmental impact through efficient water reuse.
With the launch of this new manufacturing unit, CaratLane further strengthens its commitment to innovation, operational excellence, sustainable growth, and expanding its footprint across India.
