India–EFTA Prosperity Summit Spotlights Jewellery Export Opportunities

The 2nd India–EFTA Prosperity Summit 2026, an outreach programme aimed at highlighting export opportunities under the India–EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA), was held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, on 7 October 2026.

The summit was attended by Shri Rajesh Agrawal, Commerce Secretary; Shri Lav Agarwal, Director General, Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT); H.E. Mr. Mridul Kumar, India’s Ambassador to Switzerland; and Mr. Markus Schlagenhof, Additional Director General of the Trade Secretariat, EFTA, along with senior officials from the Department of Commerce, Export Promotion Councils, trade associations and industry organisations.

Mr. Kirit Bhansali, Chairman, GJEPC, presented an overview of India’s gems and jewellery industry, highlighting the country’s existing exports to EFTA markets and the opportunities created through TEPA. He also outlined strategies to expand India’s footprint across these markets, strengthen trade ties and generate new avenues for Indian gems and jewellery exporters.

The summit focused on exploring opportunities to increase exports, strengthen business partnerships and deepen commercial engagement between India and the four EFTA member countries — Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein.

The discussions underscored the potential for TEPA to create greater market access and support Indian exporters in expanding their presence across the EFTA region.
