Van Cleef & Arpels Reimagines Its Iconic Alhambra Collection in Translucent Pink Enamel

Van Cleef & Arpels has introduced a fresh interpretation of its iconic Alhambra collection, unveiling the signature four-leaf clover motif in translucent pink enamel for the first time. Paired with yellow gold, the vibrant new colourway offers a contemporary take on one of the Maison’s most recognisable jewellery designs.

The new launch features a five-piece selection, including a Vintage Alhambra pendant, five-motif bracelet, 10-motif necklace, 20-motif long necklace and Magic Alhambra two-motif earrings. The earrings stand out with the addition of guilloché yellow gold, bringing an intricate textured finish that contrasts beautifully with the pink enamel.

A Colour Developed Through Years of Research

The distinctive pink shade is the result of several years of research and experimentation at Van Cleef & Arpels’ enamel workshops. Drawing inspiration from the historic 17th-century “gold-ruby” technique, the Maison developed the colour using fine gold particles instead of conventional pigments.

Achieving the desired translucent effect requires precise control over the size, shape and concentration of the gold particles within the enamel. This meticulous process gives the material its characteristic depth and luminosity.

The enamel’s subtle micro-bubbles add another layer of individuality to each Alhambra motif. As light moves across the surface, these tiny bubbles create delicate variations in appearance, ensuring that every piece has its own visual character. The motifs are completed with the Maison’s distinctive gold beaded borders, which frame the enamel and accentuate the contrast between the warm yellow gold and translucent pink.

A New Chapter for an Enduring Icon

Since its introduction in 1968, the Alhambra collection has continuously evolved through the use of different gemstones, materials and colours, while preserving its instantly recognisable four-leaf clover form.

The arrival of enamel represents another milestone in the collection’s evolution, bringing together heritage craftsmanship, technical expertise and a bold contemporary colour palette.

Through this new pink interpretation, Van Cleef & Arpels continues to explore new possibilities for one of jewellery’s most celebrated motifs. The collection demonstrates how traditional savoir-faire and innovative techniques can transform a familiar design into an entirely new expression while preserving the essence of an enduring icon.
