Jaipur Gem & Jewellery Bourse Poised to Elevate Global Coloured Gemstone Trade

The Jaipur Gem & Jewellery Bourse (JGJB), supported by the Rajasthan Government and prominent international industry organisations, is emerging as a landmark project set to redefine the global coloured gemstone market amid increasing demand for premium-quality gems.
At a meeting with Rajasthan Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma, Gaetano Cavalieri, President of CIBJO, and Pramod Agrawal, Chairman of JGJB and Vice President of CIBJO, highlighted the bourse’s potential to further establish Jaipur as the world’s foremost hub for coloured gemstones. The state government has facilitated the project through land allocation by RIICO and ongoing support under the Rajasthan Investment Promotion Scheme (RIPS).
Pramod Agrawal noted that the Chief Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing the infrastructure, policy backing, skill development initiatives, and investments needed to bring the project to fruition. He stated that this support strengthens industry confidence in creating a world-class destination that will reinforce Jaipur’s status as the global capital of coloured gemstones.
Kirit Bhansali, Chairman of GJEPC, said the bourse would further cement India’s leadership in the coloured gemstone segment. He emphasised that Jaipur’s centuries-old expertise has long made it a key pillar of the global gem and jewellery industry, and that JGJB will create a world-class ecosystem connecting heritage, craftsmanship, and international trade.
Calling the initiative highly significant on a global scale, Gaetano Cavalieri pointed to the rising worldwide demand for quality coloured gemstones. He said Jaipur has historically been one of the most important centres for the coloured gemstone trade and added that the bourse has the potential to become a global benchmark by integrating trade, services, sustainability, and traceability within a single ecosystem.
Envisioned as the world’s first dedicated bourse exclusively for coloured gemstones and coloured gemstone jewellery, JGJB will feature over 1,750 trading offices and kiosks, along with customs facilities, gem-testing laboratories, auction spaces, and a range of support services.
Jointly promoted by GJEPC and Jewellers Association Jaipur, the project is expected to create nearly 60,000 jobs while building a modern trade ecosystem that bridges Jaipur’s rich gemstone heritage with global industry standards.
