Bharat Diamond Bourse Extends A Grand Red-Carpet Welcome To Visiting Delegates Of The Kimberley Process 2026

The visiting delegation attending the Kimberley Process (KP) Intersessional 2026 in Mumbai was accorded a special welcome at the Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB), where they were taken on an exclusive tour of the iconic facility. The delegates received a ceremonial red-carpet reception, complemented by performances from the official BDB Band, highlighting the significance of the Kimberley Process to the global diamond industry. Over the years, the KP has played a vital role in promoting peace, safeguarding livelihoods, and strengthening legitimate diamond trade across countries. Natural diamonds continue to stand as a sustainable product category, while the Kimberley Process remains one of the world’s most progressive certification mechanisms.
Welcoming the delegation, Mehul Shah, Vice President of BDB, addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of the Kimberley Process in the global diamond ecosystem. He invited the delegates for an exclusive walkthrough of the BDB facility and encouraged mining economies to showcase their rough diamonds at the India Diamond Trading Centre (IDTC). He further noted that establishing a direct connection between manufacturers and the thousands of buyers operating within BDB would significantly reduce the time and cost associated with international travel for sourcing, while also helping mining companies secure better value for their rough diamonds.
Following the official photo session, the delegates toured the Bharat Diamond Bourse, recognised as the world’s largest functional diamond exchange. The visitors expressed admiration for the bourse’s advanced infrastructure and high-level security systems, while the state-of-the-art India Diamond Trading Centre (IDTC) particularly impressed them as a premier destination for rough diamond viewing. The delegates were divided into groups, with each group being guided by BDB committee members who provided detailed insights into the facility and its various operations throughout the tour.
