CBDT Election Cell clarifies, no seizure! No seizure during the Model Code of Conduct. No hassle no seizure of valuables: CBDT Election Cell.

In a significant announcement labelled as an Important Message, the All India Gems & Jewellery Domestic Council (GJC) has revealed that there will be no seizure of gold, jewelry, bullion, or other valuable articles in transit during the Model Code of Conduct period.

This clarification comes following persistent efforts by the GJC and a subsequent clarification from the CBDT Election Cell. However, it’s emphasized that adherence to the rule is imperative. During this period, any transit involving valuables must be accompanied by adequate documentation.

These include, 1: Original tax invoice, 2: Certified stock summary, 3: Authorization letter from the owner & 4: A valid Photo ID of the carrier.

Saiyam Mehra, Chairman, and Rajesh Rokde, Vice Chairman of GJC, have urged all jewelers to ensure compliance with these requirements to prevent any disruptions to their business operations. They have encouraged those with inquiries to contact their office directly.

Expressing gratitude, they acknowledged the Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Finance, Election Commissioner, and other relevant departments for their assistance in resolving this significant issue.
