De Beers rough sales at the sixth sight are down 36%.

De Beers reported that raw diamond sales at its sixth Sight of 2023 declined 36% year on year to $410 million, owing to the cautious stance taken by the midstream industry in the face of ongoing financial concerns.

The rough diamond sales at its fifth sight in 2023 were $456 million, while sales at its sixth sight in 2022 totaled $638 million.

“In line with seasonal trends, rough diamond sales continued at a lower level during the sixth sales cycle of the year,” stated Al Cook, CEO of De Beers Group. In view of current macroeconomic concerns, participants in the diamond industry’s midstream sector continue to be cautious in their purchases.
