Exclusive ‘Couture’ section to be star attraction of IIJS Premiere at Mumbai in August

Allotment of booths will be based on strict selection criteria, which the GJEPC is still in the process of finalizing

The Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council of India (GJEPC) has announced the introduction of an exclusive ‘Couture’ section to showcase unique creations in jewellery at its mega show, the IIJS Premiere, to be held in Mumbai from August 3 to 8, 2023. The event will be held concurrently across two venues – at Jio World Convention Centre (JWCC), Bandra Kurla Complex from August 3 to 7 and at Bombay Exhibition Centre (Nesco), Goregaon from August 4 to 8 in order to accommodate the growing number of exhibitors.

The Couture section will have an exclusive lounge set-up style of display, and will take up Level 1 and Level 2 at JWCC. Each booth will have a minimum space of 24 square metres, with participation charges at Rs 27,000 per square metre. “We are introducing the Couture section as a new category for the first time. Allotment of booths will be based on strict selection criteria, which the GJEPC is still in the process of finalizing,” said Nirav Bhansali, Convenor, Exhibitions Committee of GJEPC, adding that IIJS Premiere will have a total of 3500+ booths including machinery.

According to GJEPC, in case a company’s profile and products do not match the criteria for the Couture section, their applications will be considered for allotment in the ‘Other Jewellery’ section (if desired by the brand).

IIJS Premiere will be inaugurated on August 3 at the JWCC. There will be a mega networking and entertainment night the same evening at JWCC, as well as a CSR dinner, titled ‘Jewellers for Hope’ on August 4. The show will be inaugurated at the Bombay Exhibition Centre (Nesco) on August 4. Seminars under GJEPC’s Innov8 Talks series will be held at both the venues on all show days. For the convenience of visitors, there will be a continuous shuttle service running between both the venues throughout all show days. Badges will be given at one price for the entire event, and the same badge will work at both venues. There will be a time difference of one hour between both the venues with regard to start time of the show.

Applications for IIJS Premiere open on March 25, 2023 and the closing deadline to apply is on April 29, 2023.

Commenting on expectations from IIJS Premiere, Bhansali said, “There is a lot of expectation from every single person because of two venues. Exhibitors do have apprehensions on which venue will attract more crowds. Jio World Convention Centre will have the labgrown diamonds section and Couture section and may attract more people because of its novelty value. Nesco is a standard venue where people are bound to come. People will have to get used to this dual venue structure, and it will take one or two days to get set. Our challenge is to set up double the infrastructure with the same team. But overall, I think we are going to have a rocking show.”
