Joyalukkas Sets Two Guinness World Records with the World’s Heaviest and Largest Gold Earrings

Joyalukkas Jewellery, one of the world’s leading jewellery retailers, has achieved two Guinness World Records titles for the heaviest pair of gold earrings and the largest pair of earrings, with an extraordinary pair of handcrafted gold jhumkas. The record-breaking creation was unveiled by His Excellency Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism of the UAE, at Jewel of Joy by Joyalukkas, the Middle East’s largest jewellery destination in Dubai Gold District.
Mayura Sahasra: A Masterpiece Inspired by a Thousand Peacocks
Named Mayura Sahasra meaning “A Thousand Peacocks”, the creation draws inspiration from the peacock, a symbol of grace, pride and divine beauty in Indian culture.
According to the legend behind the design, a peacock danced at the gates of heaven and shed a thousand feathers, each representing a prayer, wish or dream. These feathers were woven together by the gods into an everlasting creation. The earrings reflect this imaginative narrative through intricate details inspired by the plumage of a thousand peacocks.
Traditional bell-shaped jhumkas, deeply rooted in South Asian bridal jewellery heritage, were brought to life by Joyalukkas’ master artisans over several months of meticulous craftsmanship.
The combined net gold weight of the 22-karat gold earrings is 16.514 kg, surpassing the previous world record by more than five times, according to the company. Both records have been verified by Guinness World Records. The earrings will remain together as a complete pair and be permanently displayed at the Jewel of Joy showroom in Dubai.
