Dr. Tariq Thomas, Director, DoC, Visits IJEX and Praises Industry Participation

Dr. Tariq Thomas, IAS, Director at the Department of Commerce, visited IJEX Dubai—an initiative of GJEPC—where he engaged with exhibitors to understand how the platform is helping Indian businesses strengthen their presence in international markets. He described the visit as highly encouraging and remarked that IJEX offers exporters a well-structured space to present their capabilities and build valuable connections with buyers across the region.

During the visit, Dr. Thomas interacted with several participants, including Rajkot-based Diz Luxe Jewellery, Mumbai’s Yug by Tanvi Exports, New Delhi’s Jewelounge, Kolkata’s Diviyansh, and Loyal Sting RFID—the first Allied Services exhibitor at the centre. Many exhibitors shared that IJEX has enhanced their visibility, helped them reach new customers, and provided clearer insights into demand trends. Dr. Thomas appreciated this feedback and acknowledged GJEPC’s ongoing efforts to bolster export preparedness through active industry engagement.

He also visited the local Dubai market, meeting with BHIMA Jewellers, where discussions provided useful perspectives on consumer behaviour, product choices, and retail sentiment in the region.

The growing number of exporters using IJEX reflects its tangible impact. The platform has become a reliable base for showcasing strengths, expanding networks, supporting emerging players, and reinforcing India’s position as a preferred global sourcing partner.
