GJSCI Partners with APSSDC to Strengthen Skill Development in Andhra Pradesh

The Gem & Jewellery Skill Council of India (GJSCI) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) to roll out comprehensive skill training initiatives across the state.
Under this partnership, the organisations will introduce Short-Term Training courses, specialised upskilling programs, and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessments to advance workforce capabilities in the gems and jewellery industry. These focused efforts aim to empower youth, artisans, and current employees with market-ready skills, broaden job prospects, and promote women’s empowerment by engaging Self-Help Group (SHG) members.
The MoU was officially exchanged in Visakhapatnam on 14 November 2025, with Shri G. Ganesh Kumar, IAS, Managing Director & CEO of APSSDC, and Shri Rajeev Garg, Executive Director & CEO of GJSCI, representing their respective organisations. This collaboration underscores a mutual commitment to elevating skill development standards, strengthening the state’s skill ecosystem, and contributing to economic growth through targeted training and capability-building programmes.
Andhra Pradesh has a rich legacy in both gold and imitation jewellery craftsmanship and trade. Regions such as Mangalagiri are home to longstanding gold jewellery clusters, and the current government is working toward setting up a dedicated jewellery park in the area.
