Natural Diamond Council and Dubai Jewellery Group Host Insightful ‘The Diamond Dialogue’ in Dubai

The Natural Diamond Council (NDC), a global not-for-profit organization representing the natural diamond industry and its entire value chain, hosted the inaugural edition of ‘The Diamond Dialogue’ in partnership with the Dubai Jewellery Group (DJG). This thought-leadership roundtable brought together prominent figures from the UAE’s jewellery industry for an engaging discussion on the evolving dynamics of the natural diamond sector.

Held in Dubai, the session convened key stakeholders—retailers, industry veterans, and trade experts—for an open exchange of ideas around the challenges and opportunities defining today’s diamond landscape. Conversations focused on how the industry can better engage the modern consumer—one who is informed yet distracted—by reinforcing the timeless emotional value of natural diamonds.

With the growing presence of lab-grown diamonds, participants highlighted the vital role of education and transparency in maintaining consumer trust. The discussion emphasized the need for clear communication to help customers distinguish between natural and lab-grown diamonds, recognizing them as two distinct but parallel markets. Attendees unanimously agreed that honesty, openness, and clarity should form the foundation of every consumer interaction.

The roundtable was moderated by Richa Singh, Managing Director – India & Middle East, NDC, and featured insights from:

  • Tawhid Abdullah, CEO, Jawhara Jewellery & Chairman, Dubai Jewellery Group
  • K.P. Abdul Salam, Vice Chairman, Malabar Group
  • Anuraag Sinha, Managing Director, Liali Jewellery
  • Chandu Siroya, Owner, Siroya Jewellers
  • Amit Dhamani, CEO & Managing Director, Dhamani Group

Special guest Mr. Ahmad Ali Moosa, Director of the Consumer Protection Department at the Dubai Corporation for Consumer Protection and Fair Trade (DCCPFT), shared valuable perspectives on fostering a transparent and trustworthy marketplace that prioritizes consumer confidence.

Richa Singh, Managing Director, NDC, remarked:

“Our vision for The Diamond Dialogue has always been to encourage open, meaningful conversations that drive tangible change. Dubai has taken the lead in embracing this initiative, and it’s truly inspiring to see the industry, retailers, and government come together to strengthen trust, educate consumers, and build a more transparent future for natural diamonds.”

Tawhid Abdullah, Chairman, Dubai Jewellery Group, added:

“Dubai stands as a global hub for the jewellery trade—a place where innovation, heritage, and integrity intersect. We are proud to partner with the NDC in spearheading this important dialogue. The Diamond Dialogue represents a collective step toward reinforcing transparency and consumer trust, ensuring that natural diamonds continue to symbolize authenticity and enduring value.”
