Rahul Kadakia Named President of Christie’s Asia Pacific

Christie’s has appointed Rahul Kadakia as President of its Asia Pacific division, effective January 2026. In addition to the new role, he will head the Global Luxury and Asian & World Art Groups. Kadakia, who joined the auction house in 1996, currently serves as International Head of Jewellery.

Commenting on the appointment, Christie’s CEO Bonnie Brennan said, “This is a pivotal moment for the art market in Asia Pacific. Rahul’s leadership reflects our dedication to the region and our trust in his ability to strengthen our presence across Hong Kong, Shanghai, and beyond.”

Kadakia expressed his gratitude, stating, “It is a privilege to step into the role of President for Christie’s Asia Pacific. After three decades of working with colleagues in the region, I look forward to relocating to Hong Kong and embracing this exciting challenge.”

The announcement coincides with the first anniversary of Christie’s Hong Kong headquarters at The Henderson, marked by a series of autumn auctions featuring 20th & 21st Century Art, Asian Art, and Luxury.

In the first half of 2025, Christie’s led the Asia Pacific market, achieving seven of the top 10 regional sales, including Jean-Michel Basquiat’s Sabado por la Noche ($14.5 million) and a 35.09-carat Regent Kashmir sapphire ($9.5 million). The APAC region contributed 40% of global new buyer spending, with Mainland China showing particularly strong growth.

Born in Mumbai in 1974, Kadakia began his career at Christie’s London before working in Geneva, New York, and now Hong Kong. Recognized as one of the world’s foremost auctioneers, he has overseen landmark sales spanning Jewellery, Watches, Wine, and Fine Art.
