The International Institute of Gemology (IIG) has broadened its international footprint by joining hands with the Consulate General of the Argentine Republic in Mumbai and CAMYEN S.E. The partnership commenced with a hybrid masterclass, “Introduction to Rhodochrosite”, dedicated to Argentina’s national gemstone.
Experts from CAMYEN shared valuable knowledge on the geology, mining, and trade of Rhodochrosite sourced from the iconic Minas Capillitas mines. The session was attended by IIG CEO & MD Rahul Desai, COO Gunjan Sapra, Consul General Daniel Quer Confalonieri, and CAMYEN board members.
As a gesture of collaboration, CAMYEN presented three kilograms of Rhodochrosite to IIG’s Specimen Library. Sapra emphasized that this association will open doors for student exchanges, mine visits, and collaborative research.
Highlighting the initiative, Desai remarked, “True education comes from knowledge backed with expertise and context. Our partnership with Argentina underscores how shared insights can shape the future of the gem and jewellery sector.”
This development aligns with the surge in Rhodochrosite exports to India and India’s growing investments in Argentina’s lithium and copper mining industries, reinforcing deeper bilateral relations.
