Mumbai SEEPZ-SEZ Introduces Postal Export Facility with FPO Extension

Exporters operating from Mumbai’s SEEPZ Special Economic Zone (SEZ) can now dispatch consignments overseas through postal channels, thanks to the opening of a Foreign Post Office (FPO) extension within SEEPZ.

The initiative, announced via Public Notice No. 9/2025 by the Development Commissioner’s office, addresses long-standing demands from trade participants. With this setup, exporters can file shipping bills digitally through the SEZ-Online system and complete customs formalities directly at the new FPO extension.

According to the notification, clearance will primarily involve checking marks and numbers, reducing delays. After customs assessment and endorsement, India Post will book the parcels and share tracking details with exporters. This streamlined process enables faster handling of e-commerce shipments while maintaining necessary safeguards such as customs checks and proof of export compliance.

The facility is expected to significantly boost small-value and e-commerce exports from SEEPZ, providing MSMEs with quicker, more affordable access to international markets.
