The International Gemological Institute (IGI) has announced the appointment of Mr. Anoop Mehta as Chairman and Independent Director of its Board, effective 6 June 2025, subject to shareholder approval, as reported by media outlets.
With over five decades of experience, Mr. Mehta is a prominent figure in India’s gem and jewellery industry. He currently serves as Chairman and Managing Director of Mohit Diamonds Pvt Ltd. and is the President of the Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB). His active roles in key organisations, including the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) as a Diamond Panel Member and the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB), have established him as a trusted leader in the global diamond sector.

Mr. Mehta played a key role in the establishment of the Bharat Diamond Bourse, launched in 2010, which has since become a leading global diamond trading center. His remarkable contributions have earned him several Lifetime Achievement Awards, including one from GJEPC.
