Russian diamond mining company Alrosa has discovered the largest gem-quality diamond ever found in the nation. This exceptional amber-hued crystal weighs an astounding 468.30 carats and has dimensions of 56 x 54 x 22 mm. It was extracted from the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
“This year will certainly be a significant milestone for Russia’s diamond sector,” stated Alrosa CEO Pavel Marynichev. “In early April, we presented the largest diamond ever cut in Russia — exceeding 100 carats, which took over two years to polish. And now, nature has blessed us with this remarkable find. It is the largest gem-quality diamond ever extracted in Russia.”
In honor of the 80th anniversary of the conclusion of World War II, the diamond has been named “80 Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.”
