India has proudly assumed the role of the official partner country at INHORGENTA 2025, signifying a significant milestone in the global gem and jewellery sector. The event, scheduled for 21st to 24th February, was launched at the India Pavilion by Mr. Shatrughna Sinha, IFS, Consul General of India, Munich; Mr. Kirit Bhansali, Chairman, GJEPC; Mr. Stefan Rummel, CEO of Messe München; and Ms. Stefanie Maendlein, Exhibition Director of INHORGENTA.
The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) has curated the India Pavilion, which features an impressive selection of diamond jewellery, gold and platinum items, fine jewellery, and loose gemstones. These collections showcase India’s talent for marrying traditional craftsmanship with modern design, providing global buyers with unparalleled quality and artistry.
During the inauguration, Mr. Sinha remarked, “Germany stands as one of India’s vital trading partners in Europe, with significant exports in leather, auto components, chemicals, and electronics. In 2023, bilateral trade between India and Germany hit an astounding USD 33.33 billion, highlighting the vast potential of our economic ties. I am delighted that for the first time, India takes on the role of the official partner country at INHORGENTA 2025. This partnership not only acknowledges India’s rising status in the global gem and jewellery market but also continues the deep-seated 500-year economic and cultural relationship between India and Germany. It will open doors for new collaborations and create fresh opportunities for both nations’ mutual benefit.”
Kirit Bhansali, Chairman of GJEPC, stated, “India is recognized globally as a trusted partner, famous for its manufacturing prowess and now emerging as a center for technology and design within the jewellery sector. With a rich heritage of craftsmanship, USD 32 billion in exports to major markets such as the USA, Europe, the Middle East, and China, and a strong emphasis on skill enhancement, innovation, infrastructure, and international standards, India is defining the industry’s future. Our collaboration with INHORGENTA promotes partnerships that will foster growth and enhance the global gem and jewellery sector together.”
Bhansali also mentioned, “India is proactively promoting diamonds by working alongside international partners, including De Beers and Chow Tai Fook, to conduct consumer campaigns in China. Furthermore, GJEPC has partnered with De Beers to introduce a B2B initiative called INDRA – Indian Natural Diamond Retailer Alliance. This initiative will aim to assist jewellery retailers in India to boost demand and increase diamond jewellery sales.”

Commenting on the partnership with India, Mr. Stefan Rummel, CEO of Messe München, expressed, “We are excited to have India as the partner country at INHORGENTA 2025. This collaboration will enhance trade relations between India and Germany, highlighting India’s rich heritage and remarkable craftsmanship in jewellery. Working with GJEPC, we anticipate showcasing India’s brilliance through the India Pavilion and a variety of special activities.”
