
The Jewellery Occupational Skilling Hub (JOSH), the Gem & Jewellery Skill Council of India’s (GJSCI) first industry-funded, cutting-edge training facility, held its convocation ceremony on February 12th at Bharat Ratnam Mega CFC SEEPZ in Mumbai. The occasion marked the graduation of 136 applicants, including the ninth batch of ordinary trainees and the second and third batches of Specially Abled Persons.
Dignitaries attended the convocation, including chief guest Mr. Dnyaneshwar B. Patil, IAS, Development Commissioner, SEEPZ-SEZ; Mr. Raghuraj Rajendran, IAS, Secretary (Technical Education), Skill Development and Employment, Government of Madhya Pradesh; and Mr. Sriram Natarajan, Managing Director, Gemological Institute of America (GIA). Shri. Milan Chokshi, Chairman, GJSCI, was also present.
Mr. Milan Chokshi commended the graduates on their devotion and perseverance in entering the gems and jewellery sector. He also thanked industry partners such as Mega CFC, the SEEPZ Development Commissioner’s office, and GIA for their ongoing assistance in closing the skill gap in the sector.
The ceremony’s highlight was the presentation of certificates to graduates, which recognised their hard work and newly acquired abilities.
Mr. Dnyaneshwar B. Patil appreciated JOSH’s efforts to empower poor and particularly abled people by offering them meaningful training and job possibilities. Mr. Sriram Natarajan shared these thoughts, stating that GIA is committed to assisting JOSH as part of its educational objective.
As part of an agreement, all Specially Abled Persons batch candidates were hired by Jewelex India Pvt. Ltd., while the majority of general batch trainees were hired as apprentices by several SEEPZ jewellery enterprises.
