Recognising the growing demand for speedier, more reliable certification services, Gemological Science International (GSI) opened a cutting-edge satellite laboratory in Indore on January 24, 2025. This new facility will provide same-day certification services for jewelry, diamonds, and gemstones to jewellers and consumers throughout Madhya Pradesh.
This satellite laboratory, spanning 1,200 square feet, was constructed to meet the growing demand for quick, same-day certification in Madhya Pradesh’s jewellery supply chain. While the majority of fine jewellery sourcing in Madhya Pradesh is done from Mumbai, Surat, and Jaipur, the state has seen significant increase in jewellery manufacturing and sales in recent years. This has produced a significant and growing demand for an internationally renowned laboratory, such as GSI, to provide knowledge, services, and educational programs to support the state’s thriving jewellery industry.
Introducing cutting-edge technology for recognizing gemstone treatment and polki jewellery certification, the GSI lab in Indore will provide premium services hitherto unavailable to jewellers in the state. Some of these services include advanced diamond testing technology, such as Mindron and GSI‘s ‘Trusure’ series, which will enable every jeweler to buy and sell with confidence.
Speaking about the goals of this satellite lab, Ramit Kapur, Managing Director of GSI India, stated, “The increase in customer demand for bespoke jewels has prompted a move toward local manufacture in Madhya Pradesh, reducing reliance on sourcing from Mumbai, Surat, and Jaipur. As part of its initiative to enhance awareness within Madhya Pradesh’s jewellery supply chain, GSI will also conduct specialised workshops on diamonds and gemstones to equip retail sales teams with advanced sales strategies. In addition, GSI will host tailored sessions for end-consumers, allowing them to make well-informed choices and enjoy an exceptional jewellery shopping experience.
