Mumbai Customs has implemented a streamlined verification process for exporters who use the Precious Cargo Customs Clearance Centre (PCCCC), a key step toward improving ease of doing business. This new endeavor, announced in Public Notice No. 04/2024 issued December 5, 2024, resolves long-standing procedural redundancies.
Previously, exporters who had been validated at other ports had to undertake duplicate identification checks when utilizing PCCCC for the first time. This redundancy resulted in unnecessary delays and inefficiencies. With the removal of Public Notice 08/2013, such exporters can now proceed without further compliance, resulting in more efficient operations.
The 2021 Customs Regulations require identity verification for first-time importers and exporters, with a 30-day timeframe for document submission. The updated framework demonstrates Mumbai Customs‘ commitment to exporter-friendly practices.
