Jewelry exports from Amritsar Airport are permitted by DGFT.

To further expedite jewelry exports, the Ministry of Commerce & Industry announced a significant revision to the Handbook of Procedures, 2023, in an update published in the Indian Gazette. In a public announcement dated November 13, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) added Amritsar Airport to its list of authorized export locations for jewelry made of gold, silver, and platinum.

Amritsar Airport’s inclusion follows tenacious efforts by the GJEPC, which has continuously pushed for the simplification of export processes and the encouragement of regional expansion in the sector. The export potential of valuable jewelry will be greatly increased by this action, particularly for companies operating in Punjab and the neighboring regions.

Previously, air freight and foreign post offices, through Customs Houses in 12 major cities, including Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi, Chennai, and Jaipur, permitted the export of valuable jewelry under applicable schemes. For exporters, especially those based in northern areas, this reduced their possibilities.

This most recent revision, which goes into effect right away, provides particular information about Amritsar Airport’s inclusion as an export hub.
