PGI India Announces Several Marketing Initiatives at 2024 BSM

Platinum Guild International (PGI) India finished another successful edition of its annual Platinum Buyer-Seller Meet on July 4th and 5th, 2024. The recently concluded event, held at the Grand Hyatt in Kochi, provided a significant business opportunity for PGI program partner retailers and manufacturers to share new designs, innovations, cutting-edge technology, and best practices while reviewing the latest platinum jewellery collections. Every year, the distinguished event brings together the most prominent figures in the jewellery industry, providing a forum for collaboration and joint business development for platinum.

The energy and passion at the manufacturer booths confirmed the increased demand for platinum jewellery across all three PGI brands: Platinum Evara, Men of Platinum, and Platinum Love Bands.

Retailers were also given an exclusive peek of the highly anticipated MS Dhoni Signature Collection, which is expected to arrive later this year, just in time for the holiday and wedding season. The shops’ considerable purchases and restocking for the forthcoming season demonstrated the overwhelming demand for platinum.

The event also featured a significant news in the field of metal innovation, with the development of a new platinum alloy that has the potential to change platinum jewellery design and manufacture. Inoveo Platinum was developed in response to the obstacles that jewellers face when working with platinum.

In his presentation, Benny Oeyen, Executive Head of Market Development for Platinum Group Metals at Anglo American, stated, “Inoveo Platinum will provide the jewellery industry with the best that platinum can provide.” It is a new platinum alloy developed using artificial intelligence and digital chemistry to mimic the workability of white gold while improving the key features of platinum, such as its naturally white color, durability, and wear resistance. So Inoveo Platinum combines the benefits of platinum with the convenience of white gold. It will help to change platinum jewelry design and manufacture.”

The evening gala meal was preceded by major talks and presentations by Vaishali Banerjee, Managing Director, PGI India, and Tim Schlick, Chief Executive Officer, Platinum Guild International (PGI), who highlighted the accelerated growth of platinum jewellery in the Indian market. Sujala Martis, Director of Consumer Marketing, announced the season’s marketing programme lineup. The exciting forthcoming marketing campaign with MS Dhoni received an incredible response.

The Evara Squad, a novel concept for creating cheerleaders and brand evangelists for women’s platinum jewelry, sparked widespread attention among retailers and producers.

Pallavi Sharma, Business Director of PGI India, provided a quick outline of the future trade agenda. She underlined driving volume growth and the importance of achieving improved profitability through the proven performance of exclusive designs in bi-metal jewellery across categories, as well as distinguishing to create value for the consumer through store exclusive platinum collections.

Vaishali Banerjee, Managing Director of PGI India, spoke about PGI India’s strong partnership with prominent retailers and manufacturers, saying, “It is encouraging to see such enthusiastic participation from retailers, manufacturers, and industry leaders.” Platinum jewellery has come a long way, and the success of such events demonstrates the country’s vast potential for platinum jewels in all markets.”

Tim Schlick, CEO of PGI, gave his opinion on the 2024 Platinum Buyer-Seller Meet: “This yearly event represents our dedication to developing and empowering strategic connections with retailers and manufacturers. Our goal is to create value for our partners, and the BSM enables us to illustrate how we do so by developing incremental business opportunities, identifying new segments, building distinction, and targeting a steady stream of younger consumers.”
