GJEPC’s hybrid Guatemala BSM opens up new export opportunities.

GJEPC and the Embassy of India in Guatemala successfully organized a hybrid Buyer-Seller Meet (BSM) to promote Indian gems and jewellery in the Central American market. His Excellency Dr. Manoj Kumar Mohapatra, Ambassador of India to Guatemala, delivered the welcome address, and Mr. Ramesh C. Khulbey, Head of Chancery and Second Secretary (Political, Press, and Information) at the Embassy of India in Guatemala City, introduced the Guatemalan panelists.

The BSM identified chances for India and the region to enhance economic linkages and expand bilateral trade relationships, particularly in the gems and jewellery sector.

Mr. Vipul Shah, Chairman, GJEPC; Mr. Shailesh Sangani, Member, National Exhibitions Sub-committee, GJEPC; and Mr. Sabyasachi Ray, Executive Director, GJEPC, represented the Council at the event. The BSM also saw considerable participation from renowned Indian gem and jewellery manufacturers-exporters looking to extend their business ties in the region.

In his remarks, Mr. Vipul Shah stated, “Today’s gathering represents a critical step in our path to establish trade partnerships with Central America. This hybrid Buyer-Seller Meet is not only an opportunity to display our products, but also a chance for us to learn about your markets, preferences, and needs firsthand. It marks the start of what we hope will be a successful and long-lasting cooperation.”

A crucial point emphasized throughout the conversation was Guatemala’s proximity to the Northern Triangle, which positions the country as a vital entryway for Indian gems and jewelry into Central America.
