Studio Renn, created in 2018 by Rahul and Roshni Jhaveri in Mumbai, announces its first entrance into the Middle East with a showcase as part of Sotheby’s Modern & Contemporary Jewelry Series in Dubai, which runs from October 2nd to October 27th, 2023. [Prime]al‘s 50-piece oeuvre will be featured in the exhibition.
True to its name ‘Renn’, which means rebirth, the Studio investigates thoughts and viewpoints, abstract ideas and feelings via beautiful jewelry.
[Prime]al, a collection of basic abstract forms in gold, diamonds, and precious gemstones, was inspired by the poem “Eyes Open,” penned by Co-founder and Creative Director Rahul Jhaveri.
The works in [Prime]al express the complexities and significance of concepts such as protection, cyclicity, fertility, abundance, and time and space perceptions.
“[Prime]al is the Studio’s ambitious effort to create a distinct contemporary aesthetic – one that is uniquely ours.” It began with a study of indigenous art – not what they made, but why and how they did it. “We tried to follow the same creative process of abstraction while creating these works,” Rahul Jhaveri explains.
Sotheby’s Modern & Contemporary Jewelry Series is forward-thinking in its curation, highlighting new and contemporary fine jewellers.
“Studio Renn is at the cutting edge of creativity and boundary-pushing, both in terms of techniques and materials.” “As a huge fan, I’m both honored and thrilled to be bringing Studio Renn to Sotheby’s Dubai,” says Paul Redmayne, Senior Vice President of Luxury Sales at Sotheby’s.
The bracelets, earrings, and rings will be available for purchase both on-site and online.
“It is our very first time exhibiting in the Middle East, and it is truly exciting to take our first step into the region with Sotheby’s,” said Studio Renn Co-founder Roshni Jhaveri.
