GJEPC‘s Kolkata Regional Office, in partnership with the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) Kolkata, successfully hosted an E-Commerce Export Summit on October 21, 2024, at the Ankurhati Gems & Jewellery Park in Howrah, West Bengal.
The summit’s goal was to educate and guide new entrants and aspiring businesses in the diamond jewellery industry in Howrah District about the benefits of e-commerce export. The event included talks from several government agencies and industry specialists, who highlighted the amenities provided only to GJEPC members.
Shri Amit Bhardwaj, IRS, Joint Commissioner of Customs, Kolkata, served as the event’s principal guest, while Shri Vishnu Kant, ITS, Deputy DGFT Kolkata, and Shri Pankaj Parekh, Eastern Regional Chairman, GJEPC, also attended.
The summit covered a wide range of issues, including the onboarding process on Amazon International, government incentives for MSMEs, India Post’s “Dakghar Niryat Kendra” (DNK) initiative, and the services provided by DHL India Ltd. Participants were able to ask questions and learn useful insights from the professionals.
Shri Pankaj Parekh greeted the attendees and emphasized the GJEPC‘s commitment to growing exports and benefiting its members. Mr. Kaushik Ghosh, Assistant Director, GJEPC, spoke about the potential of jewelry made in Howrah District, as well as the chances accessible in the online marketplace.
The summit, which drew roughly 85 attendees, was universally considered as instructive and valuable to Howrah District jewellery manufacturers. The occasion closed with a vote of gratitude from Shri Ashok Bengani, President of Ankurhati Gems & Jewellery Park.
