GJEPC, in collaboration with the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Jammu, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), and the Export Credit Guarantee Corporation of India Ltd. (ECGC), held its inaugural outreach program in Kashmir on August 29, 2024, in Srinagar, with the goal of boosting the region’s jewellery export industry. Over 62 jewellers and handicraft exporters attended the event.
Mr. Vikramjit Singh, IPS, Commissioner/Secretary of the Industries and Commerce Department, Government of Jammu and Kashmir, delivered the program’s keynote address. Mr. Singh emphasized the region’s latent potential in the gem and jewelry business, promising government help to local groups and artists.
Mr. Ashok Seth, Regional Chairman North of the GJEPC, emphasized the necessity of membership for Kashmir’s exporters and skilled craftsmen. He expressed confidence in the region’s abilities to promote the expansion of jewellery exports.
Representatives from the GJEPC, DGFT, ECGC, and KCCI also took part in the workshop, offering useful information on export procedures, financing alternatives, and industry best practices.
