De Beers reported diamond sales of $315 million for the fifth sales cycle of 2024, a 31% reduction from $456 million in Cycle 5, 2023. Sales declined 18% compared to $383 million in the preceding fourth quarter of 2024.
Al Cook, CEO of De Beers Group, stated, “The northern summer is generally a quieter period for rough diamond sales, as evidenced by our cycle 5 sales.” The recent annual JCK jewellery show in Las Vegas indicated a rebound in retailers’ interest in natural diamonds in the United States, but continued economic growth issues in China imply we should expect a long-term U-shaped recovery in demand.”
