CIBJO will hold its annual congress in Shanghai from November 2nd to 4th.

The World Jewellery Confederation (CIBJO) will host its 2024 annual Congress in Shanghai, China, from November 2nd to 4th. Pre-Congress sessions will be place on October 31st and November 1st.

The Shangri-La Qiantan Convention Centre, located in Pudong, Shanghai’s New Bund International Business District, will host the 2024 Congress. The event is being hosted by the Donghao Lansheng Group and the China Gems & Jade Exchange.

CIBJO Congresses host the World Jewellery Confederation’s Assembly of Delegates as well as the annual meetings of CIBJO‘s sectoral commissions, where amendments to the organization’s definitive directories of international industry standards for diamonds, colored stones, pearls, gem labs, precious metals, coral, and responsible sourcing, known as the Blue Books, can be proposed.

The CIBJO Congress also reports on the World Jewellery Confederation Education Foundation’s (WJCEF) programs, as well as actions connected to CIBJO‘s continuous collaboration with the United Nations and its development plan.

Shanghai, with 25 million residents, is not only the country’s most populated metropolis, but also its industrial, commercial, and financial center, serving as the gateway to the world’s largest jewelry market, which is expected to be worth $141 billion in 2023. It also serves as the official gateway to China for jewellery and jewellery components, as well as the headquarters of the Diamond Administration Centre of China (DAC), the Shanghai Diamond Exchange, the Shanghai Gold Exchange (SGE), and the Shanghai Gems & Jade Exchange, which will co-host the 2024 CIBJO Congress.

CIBJO President Gaetano Cavalieri stated, “Significantly, this is the first CIBJO Congress to be held on the Chinese Mainland, and it promises to be a spectacular event that will not only highlight the development and growth of the jewellery industry in this country and region of the world, but also the way in which it is influencing business worldwide and changing the way that all of us consider, design, manufacture, and sell our products. It will be a historic conference, taking place at a pivotal moment in our history. I hope as many delegates as possible can join us in Shanghai.”

A special 2024 CIBJO Congress webpage will be launched soon.
