Sarine Technologies has unveiled a new technology for tracing the origins of melee diamonds and connecting the rough and polished.
The method, developed by Sarine in collaboration with French jeweler Rubel & Ménasché, measures diamonds at the rough stage and follows them through the cutting and polishing stages, according to the Israel-based company.
Sarine stated that it initially utilizes its Autoscan Plus technology to record shipments containing enormous quantities of diamonds, then performs planning and quality-control measurements throughout the manufacturing process.
The company tested the solution’s practicality across multiple diamond kinds and cutting techniques in a pilot with one of Rubel & Ménasché’s melee suppliers. Sarine said that the pilot confirmed that the system could trace vast amounts of material at a low cost.
