Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council Participates in Commerce Ministry Delegation’s Canada Visit for CEPA Discussions

Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council is part of the Indian delegation visiting Canada for discussions on the proposed India-Canada Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), led by Piyush Goyal from 25–27 May.
Representing the Council in the delegation is Anoop Mehta, alongside senior representatives from over 100 Indian companies spanning multiple sectors.
Bilateral merchandise trade between India and Canada stood at nearly USD 8.6 billion in FY2024-25, while services trade reached around USD 14.3 billion in 2024. Both nations are targeting USD 50 billion in bilateral trade by 2030. India also imported rough diamonds worth USD 62.97 million from Canada during FY2025-26.
As part of the visit, Piyush Goyal is expected to hold meetings with Maninder Sidhu, Mark Carney, senior officials, business leaders, startups, and investment institutions to assess the progress of CEPA negotiations and identify fresh opportunities for trade and economic collaboration.
