The American Gem Society has unveiled the Advanced Certified Gemologist Appraiser (ACGA) credential, now accessible to all members, setting a new standard in appraisal expertise and professional practice.
Wade Abel noted that the initiative reflects member-driven enhancements and equips appraisers with a newly elevated professional designation.
To qualify, candidates must hold the CGA title for at least three years, possess relevant appraisal experience, complete Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice training, maintain an accredited gem lab, adhere to ethical standards, and undergo annual recertification. AGS will also offer promotional tools to support credential holders.
Abel added that the ACGA represents a member-informed evolution in advanced appraisal credentialing, positioning AGS professionals among the most highly qualified in the industry.
