The Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC) is welcoming a senior Angolan delegation on 26–27 January to reinforce commercial ties between Angola’s rough diamond industry and Antwerp’s global diamond hub. The delegation is led by Diamantino Azevedo, Angola’s Minister of Mineral Resources.
Also part of the visit are Dr José Ganga Junior, Chairman of Endiama, and Eugénio Bravo da Rosa, Chairman of SODIAM. The programme includes focused interactions with Antwerp-based traders, manufacturers, tender houses and luxury jewellery brands, aimed at increasing the movement of Angolan rough diamonds through Antwerp.
In 2024, Angola generated more than US$1.4 billion in rough diamond output, making it the world’s second-largest producer by value, with Antwerp receiving 21% of its exports. Both parties view the collaboration as a win-win, combining Angola’s growing supply with Antwerp’s strong trading ecosystem, regulatory expertise and access to leading global jewellery maisons.
Commenting on the visit, AWDC CEO Karen Rentmeesters said the initiative goes beyond diplomacy, emphasising practical business outcomes. She highlighted that curated one-on-one meetings are being arranged between Endiama and SODIAM and key Antwerp diamond players—including rough dealers, cutters and tender companies—while also connecting them with major luxury jewellery brands.
