The Board of the Natural Diamond Council (NDC) has announced the formal induction of Angola’s ENDIAMA E.P. and SODIAM E.P. as members of the organization, following the successful completion of all required legal and regulatory processes.
ENDIAMA E.P. (Empresa Nacional de Diamantes de Angola) is Angola’s state-owned diamond mining enterprise, entrusted with the management and sustainable development of the country’s diamond resources for the benefit of its people. SODIAM E.P. (Empresa Nacional de Comercialização de Diamantes de Angola) serves as Angola’s state-owned diamond trading authority and the sole channel for the export of Angolan diamonds, responsible for the global marketing and commercialization of the nation’s natural diamond production.
This development aligns with the commitments outlined in the Luanda Accord, co-signed in June 2025 by diamond-producing nations and key industry stakeholders, including Angola, Botswana, De Beers, and midstream representatives. The Accord reflects a unified resolve to support the long-term health, integrity, and sustainability of the natural diamond industry, as well as the communities that depend on it. Angola’s recent financial contribution to the NDC underscores the concrete action initiated through the Accord and reinforces its shared vision to strengthen industry-wide marketing and consumer education efforts led by the NDC.
Commenting on the announcement, Sandrine Conseiller, CEO of De Beers Brands and Chair of the NDC, said, “The future of our industry depends on our collective ability to tell the authentic story of natural diamonds—highlighting both their desirability and their role in driving development. I am pleased to welcome ENDIAMA E.P. and SODIAM E.P. as members of the Natural Diamond Council.”
By broadening representation across the natural diamond value chain, the NDC aims to further amplify the industry’s collective voice, enhance consumer education, and strengthen trust in natural diamonds as rare and valuable creations of nature with meaningful social and economic impact.
Dr. José Manuel Augusto Ganga Júnior, Chairman of ENDIAMA E.P., stated, “Natural diamonds are among the world’s most precious and enduring treasures and form the foundation of Angola’s prosperity, supporting livelihoods and economic stability for millions. By joining the NDC, we reaffirm our commitment to securing a strong future for the natural diamond industry and Angola’s role within it through sustained investment in global generic marketing initiatives led by the Council.”
Dr. Eugénio Pereira Bravo da Rosa, Chairman of SODIAM E.P., added, “We are pleased to become members of the Natural Diamond Council, strengthening Angola’s presence in the global diamond ecosystem and fostering collaboration that promotes responsible growth, transparency, and shared prosperity. This industry plays a vital role in supporting sustainable economic development and ensuring that the benefits of natural diamond resources meaningfully contribute to national progress and community wellbeing.”
In parallel, the NDC Board of Directors is reviewing its governance framework to enable broader participation from across the natural diamond value chain. These proposed updates aim to enhance inclusivity, transparency, and engagement, ensuring the organization continues to evolve alongside the industry it represents.
Collectively, these developments signal a positive and forward-looking phase for the Natural Diamond Council as it continues its mission to safeguard and promote the integrity, desirability, and enduring value of natural diamonds worldwide.
