India has welcomed an extraordinary blend of ancient Roman craftsmanship and contemporary luxury. SICIS Jewels, the prestigious Italian maison renowned for its mastery of micromosaic art, has officially launched its high jewellery collection in Mumbai, in collaboration with the esteemed House of Rose at its iconic Ballard Estate boutique.
More than a traditional jewellery showcase, the launch presents wearable works of art. The exhibition features an exclusive selection of high jewellery, fine jewellery, and exceptional timepieces, each meticulously handcrafted by SICIS’s skilled mosaic artisans. These masterpieces seamlessly combine centuries-old techniques, meticulous precision, and a striking modern aesthetic.
The launch builds upon the creation of The SICIS Bar inside The House of Rose — an intimate salon adorned with a bespoke SICIS mosaic installation. This artistic partnership naturally paved the way for SICIS’s first jewellery presentation in India. Although the brand’s jewellery is new to the Indian market, SICIS has long been associated with the country through its large-scale architectural and interior mosaic projects.
At the event, SICIS Creative Director Gioia Placuzzi and House of Rose Managing Director Biren Vaidya shared their aligned vision. Placuzzi described India as a discerning market ready to appreciate the intricate and labour-intensive micromosaic tradition, while Vaidya noted that the collaboration brings a truly elevated art form to Indian collectors, who increasingly value originality and artistic intellect in addition to material luxury.
The soul of a SICIS jewel lies in its legacy. Drawing from a 2,000-year-old Roman art form, each creation is composed of thousands of tiny, hand-cut glass tesserae. These miniature fragments are painstakingly arranged and paired with precious gemstones to form sculptural, painterly pieces inspired largely by nature. Every jewel is crafted entirely in Italy, reflecting the brand’s unwavering dedication to heritage, craftsmanship, and artistic authenticity.
