18 Antwerp Diamond Firms Sponsor Essential Medicines for Botswana

A group of eighteen Antwerp-based diamond companies has come together to fund vital medical supplies for over 35,000 people in Botswana, following the government’s declaration of a medical emergency earlier this year. Coordinated by the Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC), the initiative will provide a year’s worth of critical diabetes and cardiac medications.

Botswana’s Minister of Minerals and Energy, Joy Bogolo Kenewendo, travelled to Antwerp to personally thank the industry for its timely assistance. During her visit, she met with contributing companies and toured major facilities in the diamond sector. Botswana, one of the world’s major diamond producers, maintains strong commercial ties with Antwerp, with bilateral trade totalling approximately USD 580 million in 2024.

The contributing firms include Andre Messika, Ankit Gems, Anita Diamonds, Bonas Group, Choron AMC, Dali Diamond, Dharm Diam, Ferrari, HB Antwerp, Malca Amit, Pluczenik, Rosy Blue, Rubel & Ménasché, Samir Gems, Sheetal, Shivam, Taché, and Veediam.
