GJSCI Skill Centre Transforms Lives of Tribal Youth in Valsad Through Jewellery Training

Established in September 2022 in collaboration with the Gem & Jewellery Skill Council of India (GJSCI), the Shrimad Rajchandra Skill Development Centre in Dharampur, Valsad, southern Gujarat, is equipping tribal youth with the skills needed to build sustainable careers in the gem and jewellery industry.
The centre provides specialised training in jewellery CAD design — an essential competency in contemporary jewellery manufacturing. Backed by CSR support from SEEPZ-based jewellery firms, the programmes adhere to the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) and are delivered by certified instructors using modern facilities.
Since its inception, the centre has trained 170 students across eight batches, maintaining a placement rate of over 65%. Graduates have secured positions in reputed jewellery units across Gujarat and Maharashtra, while several have launched their own local enterprises.
The Dharampur initiative stands as a testament to how strategic industry collaboration and targeted skill development can generate meaningful employment and uplift rural communities. GJSCI aims to replicate and expand this successful model in the coming years.
