Maharashtra’s Heritage Brand Waman Hari Pethe Jewellers Earns IAGES Accreditation

The Indian Association for Gold Excellence and Standards (IAGES)—a Self-Regulatory Organisation (SRO) established by and for India’s gold industry—has officially granted accreditation to Waman Hari Pethe Jewellers (WHP), one of Maharashtra’s most respected and historic jewellery brands.

Kaushlendra Sinha, CEO of IAGES, stated, “Through the IAGES accreditation, our goal is to align India’s gold businesses with international standards while addressing local industry needs. We are delighted to welcome Waman Hari Pethe Jewellers to the IAGES network. Their century-long legacy and reputation for integrity truly embody the principles we uphold. This collaboration marks another important step toward fostering transparency and trust across India’s gold sector.”

The IAGES accreditation framework encompasses the entire gold value chain—from refining, bullion trading, manufacturing, assaying, and hallmarking to retailing and digital gold sales—ensuring accountability and ethical practices at every stage.

As an IAGES-certified partner, WHP will benefit from enhanced market credibility, stronger consumer loyalty, a competitive advantage over non-accredited peers, and improved investor confidence. For customers, shopping at an IAGES-certified retailer guarantees that their gold has been sourced, processed, and sold with ethical and responsible practices.

Founded in 1909, Waman Hari Pethe Jewellers has long been synonymous with heritage, fine craftsmanship, and customer trust. The IAGES certification strengthens its commitment to authenticity and helps the brand connect with a new generation of conscious consumers.

Expressing his pride in the recognition, Aditya Pethe, Founder and Director of WHP Jewellers, said, “It’s an honour to be part of the IAGES initiative. After nearly 115 years in the jewellery business, we still see a pressing need for greater formalisation in the industry. The IAGES framework brings structured process management and ensures that due diligence is followed across the entire supply chain. We hope more gold businesses embrace this initiative to raise the ethical and operational standards of India’s gold industry.”
