
In a significant development for India’s gems and jewellery sector, Kolkata International Airport successfully completed its first hand carriage export operation in the early hours of 16 June. This achievement marks a key milestone in improving business facilitation and strengthening India’s position in the global market.
The breakthrough was made possible through the joint efforts of the Customs Department, the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), AAI Cargo Logistics and Allied Services Company Ltd. (AAICLAS), and BVC Logistics. The initiative was led by Mr. Shivaji H. Dange, IRS, Principal Commissioner of Customs, Kolkata, along with Mr. Pankaj Parekh, Regional Chairman (Eastern Region), GJEPC.
