Kolkata Customs Introduces Personal Carriage Service for Gems and Jewellery Exports

The Principal Chief Commissioner of Customs for the Kolkata Zone has officially introduced a personal carriage facility for gems and jewellery at Kolkata Port, marking a significant development that is expected to enhance trade and increase exports from Eastern India.

This initiative is designed to improve the business environment and encourage exports from West Bengal. Customs officials provided comprehensive guidelines and procedures for utilizing the personal carriage facility during the launch event.

Shri S.H. Dange, IRS, the Principal Chief Commissioner of Customs for the Kolkata Zone, urged exporters to take advantage of the new facility, emphasizing that it was established for the benefit of the gems and jewellery sector. The launch ceremony was attended by representatives from the GJEPC, including Shri Pankaj Parekh, Eastern Regional Chairman, along with Regional Committee Members and officials.

Attendees from prominent jewellery companies such as M/s. Sabyasachi Calcutta LLP, M/s. Hasmukh Parekh Jewellers, and M/s. Modern Impex participated in the event and showed enthusiasm for utilizing the facility to carry branded jewellery for international exhibitions and promotional activities.
