Malabar Group has been committed to inclusive growth since its foundation, as seen by its social welfare initiatives. The Malabar Charitable Trust (MCT) was founded in 1999 to help formalize and develop these initiatives. The company devotes 5% of its revenues to CSR efforts that cover education, healthcare, environmental sustainability, and poverty alleviation, with a focus on empowering vulnerable populations.
The Malabar National Scholarship Programme, which was inaugurated in 2007, is the company’s primary CSR program. To date, over ₹60 crore has been contributed to support the program, providing financial aid to over 95,000 girl students across India and over ₹13.74 crore to support more than 22,400 girl students in Telangana. Malabar Group‘s emphasis on girls’ education strives to benefit not only individuals but entire communities, ensuring that future generations are equipped with the skills for social and economic success.
In addition to the scholarship program, the Malabar Group‘s Hunger-Free World Project distributes nutritional meals to needy people throughout the country. The effort is dedicated to eradicating hunger and guaranteeing food security for all, with the help of a large volunteer network and cooperation with local non-governmental organizations. Currently, more than 60,000 food packages are delivered everyday in 81 cities throughout 17 Indian states. In addition, 10,000 food packages are distributed to Zambian school pupils every day. Malabar Group intends to expand the operation to serve 100,000 people everyday across 200 centers. The Hunger-Free World Project is being carried out in conjunction with Thanal, a non-profit organisation that provides social services.
The Malabar Group has also developed the Grandma Home project, which gives free, fully furnished housing for impoverished women while also providing them with protection and care. Currently, homes are functioning in Hyderabad and Bengaluru, with ambitions to extend to key cities in Kerala, including Chennai, Kolkata, Delhi, and Mumbai. We have also developed 581 micro-learning centers in 12 states to educate dropout youngsters. To date, we have assisted over 25,800 students.
The Group’s CSR efforts focused at uplifting disenfranchised populations include medical aid for the underprivileged, home development support, and financial assistance for needy women’s marriages. The Malabar Group has invested approximately ₹282.29 crore in social responsibility projects, demonstrating a commitment to sustainable development.
Malabar Group‘s continuous emphasis on significant initiatives like education and hunger alleviation illustrates the company’s philosophy that long-term growth is only achievable when communities are empowered and supported in every manner. This dedication will be at the center of all future endeavors as the Group expands its business and social responsibilities.
Speaking about the effort, MP Ahammed, Chairman of Malabar Group, stated, “Education is the most powerful tool for changing the world.” Our scholarship scheme reflects Malabar Group‘s firm belief that education creates possibilities and transforms lives. We are devoted to eradicating barriers for young girls so they can pursue their educational goals and make meaningful contributions to society.”
