CIBJO<\/a> announced that a three-day course tailored for jewellery industry professionals will be held from August 21st to 23rd, 2024, at GIT in Bangkok, Thailand, and will present ethical and sustainable best practices in the various sectors of the jewellery industry, as defined in CIBJO’s Blue Books<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The training is being given jointly by the newly founded CIBJO<\/a> Academy and the Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (GIT). Kenneth Scarratt, Dean of the CIBJO Academy<\/a>, Thanong Leelawatanasuk, GIT Deputy Director, and Dr. Bhuwadol Wanthanachaisaieng, Chief of the Research and Standards Department, will present the course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the three-day programme, attendees will be given an overview of technical and due diligence standards for precious metals, colored stones, diamonds, pearls, and precious coral, with a focus on transparent and unambiguous disclosure, responsible sourcing, and sustainable environmental practices. Additional units will investigate the interconnectedness of the jewellery supply chain and certifiable compliance systems, with a focus on the Responsible Jewellery Council’s system. The Blue Books<\/a> will serve as primary teaching materials and can be downloaded for free from the CIBJO<\/a> website, https:\/\/cibjo.org\/the-blue-books\/<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
