The 7th Artisan Jewellery Design Awards held in Mumbai<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 7th edition of The Artisan Jewellery Design Awards<\/a>, hosted by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC)<\/a> and powered by GIA<\/a>, challenged designers to tap uncharted territory by integrating unusual materials and cherished objects into their jewellery designs, to infuse their pieces with a unique identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Actress and style icon Sonam Kapoor<\/a> graced GJEPC\u2019s 7th edition of Artisan Jewellery Design Awards<\/a> in Mumbai and presented awards to winners. Sonam Kapoor<\/a> graced the stage with an aura of elegance and charisma along Vipul Shah (Chairman, GJEPC)<\/a>; Kirit Bhansali (Vice Chairman, GJEPC)<\/a>; Sriram Natarajan (Managing Director, GIA India)<\/a>; Milan Chokshi (Convener, Promotions & Marketing, GJEPC)<\/a>; Sabyasachi Ray (Executive Director, GJEPC)<\/a> bestowed the coveted awards upon 6 Artisan winners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year the theme for the Artisan Jewellery Design Award<\/a> were two unconventional themes – Objet Trouv\u00e9<\/a> (Found Objects) and Unusual Materials. \u00a0The concept of Objet Trouv\u00e9<\/a> centred on crafting jewellery pieces that capture the essence of treasured objects from the past within a contemporary context. While the second theme, Unusual Materials, encouraged designers to create a dialogue between the familiar and the unexpected by combining contrasting materials with at least 50% precious materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Actress & style icon Sonam Kapoor<\/a> said, \u201cI am proud to be a part of the jewellery industry, which showcases India\u2019s excellence in design and craftsmanship to the world. The Artisan Awards<\/a> is a great initiative by the GJEPC<\/a> to nurture and celebrate young talent, who are pushing the boundaries of creativity and innovation. I believe that jewellery is not just an accessory, but an art form that expresses one\u2019s personality and style.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I admire the Indian designers who create stunning pieces that blend tradition & modernity, and inspire women to experiment with different forms and colours. For me, the artistic value of a jewellery piece is more than the material value, and that is what makes it truly precious.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
