He also went on a tour of the new terminal building. Since a long time, the Gem &amp; Jewellery (GJ) industry and trade have been requesting a terminal facility at the Surat airport for convenience of logistics and safety, which is finally being realized in order to grow the GJ trade globally!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The new integrated terminal building in Surat marks a significant leap in the city&#8217;s infrastructure development,&#8221; said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.narendramodi.in\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi<\/a> in the post. This cutting-edge infrastructure will not only improve the travel experience, but it will also increase economic growth, tourism, and connection.&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/cmogujarat.gov.in\/en\/chief-minister-of-gujarat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel<\/a>, among others, accompanied the Prime Minister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the details, the Terminal building is equipped to handle 1200 Domestic passengers and 600 International passengers during peak hours and has provision for further increasing the peak hour capacity to 3000 passengers with annual handling capacity increasing to 55 lakh passengers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The terminal building, as it is the gateway to Surat City, has been designed with its local culture and heritage ensuring that the essence should reflect both in interior and exterior, creating a sense of place for the visitors. The fa\u00e7ade of the upgraded terminal building aims to enrich the passenger experience with the rich and traditional woodwork of the old houses of the \u2018Rander\u2019 region of Surat City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The airport&#8217;s GRIHA IV compliant New Terminal Building includes various sustainability features such as a Double Insulated Roofing System, Canopies for energy savings, Low Heat Gain Double Glazing Unit, Rain Water Harvesting, water treatment plant, sewage treatment plant, and the use of recycled water for landscaping, among others.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The new terminal building at Surat Airport in Gujarat was opened by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
