The programme offered practical insights into procedures for transporting high-value jewellery consignments, outlining documentation norms and compliance requirements. Participants were also briefed on key provisions of Budget 2026\u201327 impacting the gem and jewellery industry. Shri Ashish Borda, Convener \u2013 PMBD, <a href=\"https:\/\/gjepc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">GJEPC<\/a>, welcomed the dignitaries and attendees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Delivering the keynote address, <a href=\"https:\/\/mumbaicustomszone3.gov.in\/airport-special-cargo-contact-us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Shri Harsh Singh, Additional Commissioner of Customs, Precious Cargo Customs Clearance Centre (PCCCC)<\/a>, highlighted significant Budget 2026\u201327 announcements relevant to the sector. He underscored policy initiatives designed to ease trade processes, lower entry barriers for exporters, and enhance global market access, particularly for MSMEs. He also emphasised the importance of restoring industry sentiment and capitalising on emerging trade opportunities following a challenging year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Detailing the operational mechanism, Shri Inderveer Singh, Deputy Commissioner (Imports), PCCCC, explained that the hand-carriage facility allows authorised passengers to transport jewellery consignments as part of their personal baggage under Customs supervision. The process includes secure storage, sealing, and escorted handling at the airport. He noted that documentation requirements remain broadly consistent with standard export filings, with the addition of specific passenger and flight details. Efforts are being made to ensure swift clearances, with a targeted turnaround time of approximately 24 hours to minimise trade disruptions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mumbaicustomszone3.gov.in\/airport-special-cargo-contact-us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Shri Jayesh Jadhav, Assistant Commissioner, PCCCC<\/a>, was also present at the session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gjepc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">GJEPC<\/a> has played a key role in conceptualising and implementing the hand-carriage jewellery export facility in Mumbai through continuous engagement with Customs authorities, enabling faster and more cost-effective shipment options for exporters.
