ALROSA<\/a> has commenced development of the Karpinsky-2 kimberlite pipe at the M.V. Lomonosov diamond field in Russia\u2019s Arkhangelsk region. This becomes the third operational pipe at the site, alongside Arkhangelsk and Karpinsky-1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Karpinsky-2 holds more than 40 million tonnes of diamond-rich ore. Initial pilot mining in 2018 confirmed its viability, leading to the start of full-scale development earlier this year. ALROSA<\/a> CEO Pavel Marinychev initiated the design phase during a recent visit to Severalmaz, the company’s regional arm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While there, Marinychev assessed Severalmaz\u2019s performance for 2025. The company surpassed ore extraction goals in the first five months and improved efficiency by reducing maintenance-related downtime. These efforts contributed to a 9.4% rise in ore processing and yielded over 1.2 million carats of rough diamonds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also commended progress on a water recycling initiative at the Lomonosov processing facility and emphasized the need to finish building a gym for workers at the shift village by year-end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI am confident that the Severalmaz team\u2019s efforts will continue to propel the company forward. We\u2019re dedicated to maintaining safe working conditions and supporting the development of the Arkhangelsk region,\u201d Marinychev stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ALROSA<\/a> remains the world\u2019s top diamond producer, responsible for 30% of global and 90% of Russia\u2019s diamond production. In 2024, the company produced 33 million carats, with reserves exceeding 1 billion carats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
